Is there still a need for traditional advertising?

The short answer in my opinion would always be yes. There is no way of replacing the suggestive Nando's ads or the talking dog in a Toyota ad.

I wonder why people ask this question? Is it because they are looking at alternative ways of advertising - that are maybe cheaper or are they feeling threatened? Online marketing will never replace traditional advertising completely however it has already started to change the way traditional marketing is done.

In my opinion non-traditional marketing or for that matter non-marketing boils down to :

1. Online marketing should be seen as an extension of existing marketing initiatives and not a replacement
2. Online marketing is way more measurable but it is often more geared at reaching specific goals I.E Leads, purchases, bookings etc

At the end of the day we should generate more "Goals" for our clients in the most cost effective way. Each campaign should be evaluated and the campaign goals will actually determine what your split will be.

In conclusion I feel there are no rules on which is better, Digital or Traditional. They both serve different purposes in reaching the end goal of making our clients more money. The one is just far more measurable than the other.
